Earlier this week, it was confirmed that director Sam Raimi has hopped on board the Warcraft movie project. Now, word is abuzz that Warner Bros. wants to dip their hands into the Warcraft cookie jar as well, planning to launch a franchise based on World of Warcraft.

According to reports circulating in the Internet, WB feels that the popular game with more than 11 million subscribers has the potential of replicating the success of the Harry Potter and Batman franchises.

No specific details as to how they intend to carry out this ambition, but what we did hear is that the Warcraft movie is being eyed for a 2012 release. Or "when it's done," as Blizzard loves to say of their releases.

Hopefully theirs wont be homophobic like Blizzards and maybe, just maybe, if it's not homophobic, I'll buy it..

homophobic?

lol.. I don't think there will be two gay Orcs thrown off Outland for their sexuality. Seriously though, I doubt it'll touch the sexual base like that. I wish they were making the movie on the rise of Prince Arthas and his descent into The Lich King, following him from Scholomance (I think) to Northrend..

Um

Extremely late, but duh I know, I wish the movie were based on Warcraft III. I really enjoyed the Arthas plot they had going on, I think it has everything it needs to be adapted into a good movie.
