SWG: 2006 is one helluva good year |

The holidays are one of the happiest times of the year. It's that time wherein you'll have a break from school or work and just lounge around the house with family and friends to relax...unless you're the designated cook or dishwasher, then you've got a lot of work on your hands.
It's also a good time to catch up on gaming. Some of you probably have a next-gen console or a handheld lying around the house and you'll always have your MMORPGs to tinker with. The problem with MMOs is that holidays also mean weak update schedules because everyone is on vacation and server populations are really busy among other things. But if you're playing Star Wars Galaxies, then you don't have to experience all those hassles.
According to Site Manager for Star Wars Galaxies Rachel Langdon "the developers have done an excellent job providing new chapters, bug fixes and updates throughout the fall season. These updates have included new expertise systems for most classes, fixing up some of the legacy quests and providing an overall better experience, certainly when compared to the game just before the launch of the “Chapter” system."
And since Christmas is a time to be honest about your mistakes and to learn from them, Rachel shares this tidbit:
While the developers have admitted that the NGE was a bad move for the most part they are starting to right their wrongs and previous players are starting to return to the game. While some of the removed features such as Beast Mastery and Pets may not return any time soon at least SOE is making an effort to reintroduce these concepts. I'd say that within a years time that Galaxies will no longer be a grinders game and that the recent trend of new players, returning players and trial accounts will only continue to increase.
Indeed, optimism is a good way to start the year. One could only hope that this positive kind of thinking could spread like a brush fire.

The PVP system was directly ripped from WoW. Whats more ironic is that WoW now has SWG's old faction system.
Reply
1) just before the Chapter system game was barely playable,
2) NGE dumbed down the game significantly,
3) SOE is not making an effort to return things they took away from us in the first place. They've just started a discussion, which is no longer running anymore. Whole 3 (three) threads were closed archived.
4) Despite the promises communication didn't improve. For example, lead DEV (Helios) hasn't posted on the boards for 11 days.
5) Old players are returning because they were given 21 free days window. Ask me next month how many of them is going to stay.
Also, quoting you, that "the developers have done an excellent job providing new chapters, bug fixes and updates throughout the fall season" I must say that you're mistaken. It took about 2,5 months to release each chapter (that makes one whole chapter in Fall), and a few little updates between chapters were only bugfixes for the stuff theyve broken while introducing new chapter.

The more of this crap you post, the lower your cre4dibility sinks in the eyes of the gaming world. You are already considered to be an SOE tool. Posts like these just reinforce that notion.
