State of the Realm: Blizzard to give compensation |
Ó
Game: Installed. Red bull: Chilled. Snacks: Opened. Loins: Girded. Servers: Down.
Now this is a familiar situation, isn't it? The opening days of Wrath of the Lich King were marred by numerous game glitches which resulted in a two-day extended maintenance period. The problems primarily revolved around issues with the in-game mail where letters would not display properly in player's mailboxes.
You may also recall that the official WoW forum was set to "read-only" mode the other day. That was because when thousands of angry WoW players flooded the forums to report the glitches, the server hit 100% CPU usage which, in turn, led to more downtime.
The forums have since come back up but Bliz mentioned that they reserve the right to shut them down again for the sake of expedient communication.
Following the tragic loss of precious game time, Blizzard posted a message on the WoW community forums promising that they'll be fixing the problems soon and will give one free day of game time by way of compensation. Note that they'll be providing the compensation within two weeks from the date of the announcement (November 12) so don't be confused if you haven't got your extra day yet.
Any in-game gold lost due to the issues mentioned will also be reimbursed and lost mail will be returned in due time.
You can view Blizzard's full message in the source link below.

I went to the midnight release and even though I was like 150th in line, I was able to have the game in hand by 12:15 (it was amazingly organized haha). Came home, had it already installed via torrents, and was playing by 12:30.. No lag, no nothing. Except I did get mail back that did not belong to me =p I was able to keep some of it, but the rest bugged out
