Ó
Here's a bit of good news for the MMO gamers who think emotes and text can only do so much to carry their message across. Sony Online Entertainment recently announced that their Vivox-powered "Station Voice" chat service is now available for use in EverQuest 2 and Star Wars Galaxies. Here are the functions that are expected to be available with the introduction of Station Voice:
- Talk person-to-person in game with any microphone and headset combo
- Chat with their party, guild or any other group in game
- Play and communicate without worry of a significant increase in game lag
- Manage group/user participation with moderator controls
- Individually mute and set volume per user
- Set up easily without the need for separate software, accounts or registration
Later on, SOE further plans to implements other Vivox functions to Station Voice, such as voice fonts and the ability to connect to games from Station Launcher. The latter function will enable Station Launcher users to use the voice chat service even if they don't own an SOE game.
Station Voice is also expected to be used in the company's upcoming The Agency title although that's all the details that have been provided for at the moment. Check back with us again in case any more information is announced.
