People leaving World of Warcraft - is this the start of a trend? |
Ó
In the recent player activity chart for World of Warcraft in online site Warcraft Realms, it shows that the WoW community has slowly been dwindling. This led to a few posts and articles which have tried to pinpoint the source of the problem.
A lot of people contend that this shouldn't be the case, considering all the new content that has been added to the game. Well, I personally believe that the population is just "normalizing". If you will look at the chart, there is a very sharp spike from December to January.
Now, you have to consider that some of these players will probably play it for a month or two and just say that it's not for them. The players who have really been hooked by the game are still there. If it starts dropping below the numbers of November and December, however, then we'll really have to take a long hard look at this.
I would also like to believe that Blizzard has been banning spammers and gold farmers from the game, and that is reducing the population of the community. But that is just wishful thinking on my part. WoW players shouldn't worry about this.
We suggest that you should just credit the drop from the most annoying players of the game leaving.

We should check this activity this fall and winter to see if this trend continues which would provide more worthy evidence around players leaving WoW.

I personnaly think the change was very sudden and in the quick boom and power level alot of people just couldnt be bothered.

Anyways, many people (like me) are leaving because the game didn't change, just the same thing in a different flavor. However this needed "additional grind" to 70 has discouraged people from even continuing weither at 60 or 70. The game is just toomuch like the past, but with better gear and abilities.
Now if there was something indifferent that kept the same label, then people would possibly stay.

As for the dude who thought the population has gone up, all i have to say is can i sell you whats in my toilet? behind the brown stuff is actually gold, your dumb enough to fall for it.
Finally for the guy who said the game has been our for 2 years and people are getting bored, yes that may be true BUT do you find it odd that people are leaving AFTER an expansion as oppposed to any point before the expansion? I mean, HUGE growth when BC came out then it seems like a HUGE exodus right after. Making the connection? If you dont join your buddy up there with predicting the coming of christ.
(btw im not christian)
