Is there a Guild NOT in The Armory? Maybe not, but people are p***ed |
Ó
Chaos, drama, and conspiracy erupt (anew) when a World of Warcraft forum member did a search for the Fires of Heaven guild on Black Dragonflight and turned up... nothing. The official, widely considered as rational reason why this happened was chalked up to the BETA nature of The Armory. Blue poster Nethaera handled the official press release:- It is BETA, several people can't even look at their own guilds, please report issues as they happen.
- And while we're at it. NO OPT OUT.
- Maybe in the near future Blizzard "may be adding more features to the Armory in the near future of which some if it may have an option to opt out," but that would be unfair now, would it?
Rational complaints have posters asking Blizzard (as nicely as possible) to have options to screen certain data from The Armory, at personal preference, such as specs and gear, or who can see one's specs and gear (much like the screening options in social networking sites). Then there are the few who are just really p***ed at the entire notion of The Armory, and having a thread entitled "There is a Guild that Opted out of Armory" was an opportunity to vent.
More chaotic is a "side-thread" revolving around guild favoritism/dev guilds. That one's going down to flaming, name-calling, and counter-accusations, bringing up evidence - again, from a BETA program.
Sitting here, all this really just goes back to bad blood in the past, combined with the worries of some that the open-info nature of The Armory can be detrimental to players and their future performance. The official reason (BETA) has already been emphasized, but for one reason or the other, a few players aren't buying it.
The thread starter had one post, quite appropriate for the entire discussion: "Good lord, I created a monster." And, based on the analysis, the reply he got was entirely accurate, too: "More like you poked its moldering corpse and made it stink." Now showing at the Read Link: The Armory: So the Drama.
