Guild Wars State of the Game: hottest ganking strategies |
Ó
The Guild Informant is back for the latest State of the Game feature of NCsoft's most competitive MMORPG, Guild Wars, and it's all about ganking in the current meta game. Some older skills are still among the best choices for split strategies, but what matters most is how teams go about with their splits depending on which map they're on.
The classic speed boosting elite, Escape, is on the list of skills your team might want to put on your Rangers for better mobility. Even with the Eye of the North expansion out, Assassin skills haven't lost popularity. Shadow Step, Recall, and Aura of Displacement first come to mind when talking about what to put in a ganker's bar.
This State of the Game focuses more on certain maps that are good for splitting, namely Burning Isle, Isle of Weeping Stone, Isle of Wurms, and Isle of Meditation. On all occasions, it's important to make use of any available Guild Thief and be ready to react quickly when the enemy guild responds to your gank.
When using a single infiltrator, it's usually a good idea to give that guy the ability to quickly join fights at the flag stands when the attempt to pick NPCs off didn't work. On a map like Isle of Wurms, it's important to decide how to approach the Health Shrine. It's either send someone with the thief to capture it off the bat, or wait for the enemies to make a move before sending a split team strong enough to claim the shrine.
There other factors to consider, like the Obelisk Tower in Isle of Meditation or the Sentinels in Burning isle. Flexibility is often what matters the most when encountering maps like these, which means your team setup should be able to come up with splits for different situations.
