Guild Wars Nightfall: info on Dervishes and Paragons |
Ó
So you just bought your copy of Nightfall. You head straight to your PC, update it with the latest Guild Wars campaign, and check out the latest additions to the Guild Wars profession family: the Dervish and the Paragon. Now, you might have read my article about using 'em in PvP combat, but if you're not entirely familiar with these two new professions, you might get a thing or two here.
Dervishes, according to the Guild Wars official site, "have the ability to clear out the crowd." These scythe-wielding characters have the ability to deal damage to "three adjacent foes combined" because of their Dervish Enchantments. Add to that their "Condition-applying skills," and you got one mean tank slash nuker (rumor has it that this guys' scythe has "a higher maximum damage than any other weapon in the game"). And the Dervish is packed with Health and Energy.
You see, its primary attribute is the ability to regain Health and Energy when Enchantments end, so better be wary of this guy, as this is one tough cookie. Dervishes also have running skills that lessen the effect of Conditions applied to them, so they can also be useful for flag running.
The Paragon, on the other hand, makes a good support for the team. This one's packed with chants and shouts for healing, reducing damage, even managing Energy. Moreover, this character carries a spear that deals damage that can be coupled with Conditions, so don't expect this guy to be a softie when it comes to offense. It's got loads of interesting skills, one of which is the Signet of Return, a resurrection skill (unlike the Resurrection Signet which you can use only once) that you can use over and
over and over....Powerful as they are, there are countermeasures to these seemingly oh-so-powerful professions. New Necromancer skills such as Well of Silence render shouts and chants unusable for quite some time, while some Mesmer skills such as Enchanter's Conundrum slow down enchantment casting time.
