PAX We all know Penny Arcade can deliver fun. Just take a look at their online comic that combines wry with and knee-slapping humor to cover videogames in a way that is genuine, insightful, and respected by the gaming community, and you'll know they are the authority when it comes to having fun.

They have twice staged Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), which is a 3-day, round-the-clock celebration of games and game culture that has an exhibition floor teeming with playable demos of still unreleased games, game tourneys, conference program and music concerts. After an announcement made by Penny Arcade today, you can now add Guild Wars Live Event to that list.

"The Guild Wars Live Event is a one-of-a-kind competition and every PAX attendee gets to play," said Penny Arcade's events manager Mike Fehlauer. "PAX is growing so quickly because the industry is really bringing its best offerings to the show. At the Expo developers and the hardcore players that drive this industry can directly interact like never before, and the Guild Wars Live Event is a great example of one of those unique events gamers will love."

What's good about this segment is that since every PAX attendee is eligible to participate, everyone has a chance to win $10,000 in cash and prizes by playing Guild Wars at the PAX 10K Arena. They will be able to play a special sealed-play, 4v4 player vs. player match up version of the revolutionary online role-playing game Guild Wars. Players may enter with a team or as an individual. Single players will be matched up with a team. The highest scoring team from each qualifying round advances to the semi-finals.

Penny Arcade Expo will be held from August 25-27, 2006 at Bellevue, Washington. A detailed article on both attendee and media registration can be accessed via the read link.
