Guild Wars Factions Championship Open Event Announced

The folks over at ArenaNet - the people behind Guild Wars has announced the dates for the upcoming Guild Wars Open Event. This contest would give those unfortunate guilds a chance to qualify for the GW Factions World Championship in Leipzig, Germany on August 24-27, 2006. The tournament structure and schedule are as follows:

On July 14, 2006 at 08:00 (a.m.) GMT the Tournament Ladder will be reset and all guilds will start out with a rating of 1000.
For the next 72 hours, guilds will be able to compete against randomly paired (but weighed based upon ratings) guilds in single-game match play. At 08:00 (a.m.) GMT on July 17, 2006, the tournament ladder will be frozen.
