EQ II's Kaladim: stronghold of Serilian horde? |
Ó
In EverQuest II, only brave adventurers enter the Butcherblock Mountains. You know why? Because only the braver, more experienced ones are willing to go further into the heart of Kaladim, the kingdom of Dwarves. Tony "Vhalen" Garcia, the game's designer, even emphasized that what players know of the Butcherblock is but the tip of the iceberg.Kaladim, you see, is located in the heart of that titanic mountain range. Dwarves are able to harness this natural advantage as they enjoy temperate climate and natural defenses. Vhalen then added:
Kaladim's location inside the heart of Butcherblock Mountains provides many things, not just natural defenses. The mountains the dwarves decided to build their capital city contained vast caverns and a natural subterranean river. Most important was the mineral composition of the mountains.
It is interesting to note that these same minerals are the very reason why Kaladim survived the astronomical upheaval of the Age of Cataclysm, or what is otherwise known as the Shattering. But Vhalen shared that far stronger and darker mystical forces are at work here other than the minerals. He shared:
There is said to be a section of the Underfoot that exists below Kaladim, an under-continent called Stormhold. This is not the ruins of the defunct Knights of Thunder of Old Antonica. This is a realm of below, a place filled with denizens never known by the common Norrathian.
For a while now, players have been speculating that the newly introduced Serilian Horde have been hiding in this dark regions. If they are here indeed, what are you guys waiting for? Proceed to Butcherblock Mountains and unearth this horde! But keep in mind one famous movie line that goes: "Don't dig too deep. You might get burned by the molten lava!"
