City of Heroes Character Transfer and Renaming features |
Ó
If you're still annoyed at the fact that someone from City of Heroes' Freedom server already has that cool name you thought up for your new Hero then you'll be pleased that NCSoft has recently cleaned house. That means that the developers have finally freed up millions of names for their new Character Rename feature. In an effort to optimize this new feature, NCSoft has finished sweeping up characters who are below level 6 or have been inactive and not subscribed for over 90 days.
Players can now take advantage of this by renaming their character through the paid service or by simply creating a new Hero or Villain with that name in mind. Also, NCSoft has implemented the Character Transfer service which lets you take your Hero from one server to another.
It might be the perfect opportunity to try out your more experienced characters in a more populated server, especially since the new expansion is coming up. While NCSoft won't go on record for saying their plans, a "server-less" configuration for City of Heroes is also being considered.
It might not be implemented by this year, but they wanted everyone to know that the possibility exists at least. Both the Character Transfer and the Character Rename features are available at the character selection screen and priced at US$ 9.99.
