Brazil bans video games - Image 1The idea that video games are harmful to the youth is a topic that has long been discussed by members of the medical and political community.

The country of Brazil seems to have taken an active stand towards the issue and has issued a country-wide ban on the Online FPS Counter-Strike and SOE's MMORPG EverQuest saying that both games were "harmful to consumers' health."

Interestingly enough, this ban was ordered by Judge Carlos Alberto Simoes back in October 2007, though it wasn't implemented until now.  During the deliberations, Simoes came to the conclusion that the games were encouraging "the subversion of public order" and "were an attack against the democratic state and the law and against public security."
