Blizzard turned down Boll on World of Warcraft movie - Image 1

A lot of gamers would know Uwe Boll. He's the guy who directed several movie adaptations for video games such as House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark. He's also the brains behind the new Far Cry movie.

Despite his long history in making movie adaptations of video games though, Boll doesn't seem to be Blizzard's prime choice for making the World of Warcraft movie. In fact, as MTV reports, they practically laughed at him when he offered to do so.

Boll recently got into contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard to make the movie. Boll relates the reply he got was a flat-out denial:

We will not sell the movie rights, not to youÂ…especially not to you. Because itÂ’s such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it.

Put this man out of business. He ruined House of the Dead.

UWE. TAKE NOTE OF RESIDENT EVIL. That's what a zombie-game movie SHOULD be.

Ok, I'll admit I'm, over 40 and live in a cave. When Resident Evil (the movie) came out I saw the previews and decided to go see it. Walking into the theater, I had no clue there it was based on a game, but about halfway through it I was thinking to myself, "WTF?!?! This isn't a movie it's a freakin video game!!"

If RE is an example of a GOOD "game to movie" crossover, I think I'll pass.

I'm surprised Boll didn't show up at Blizzard's offices to challenge devs to come out for a boxing match. Not only is he notoriously bad at making movies he can't stand to be criticized for it. Bravo to Blizz for turning him down I just hope they have the security cameras going in case the dingbat decides to pay them a visit.
