Blizzard cracking down on innuendo? A modest proposal. |
Ó
There's a reason for the picture to your right, which we will get to in a bit. Right now, let's explain what WoW Insider managed to find out on the forums. A post by Aardvarkina on the Guild Relations forum says that, after enjoying holding the guild name of "Two Dollar Horde" for the longest time, Blizzard has apparently forced them to rename their guild due to sexual innuendo. This currently leads to a rather involved discussion among gamers and some trolls about the appropriate age group for this game, social mores, and about some other guild names worthy of changing.
On the other hand, as some people have noted, Blizzard's also taken some liberties with their use of double entendres inside the game. To remedy the existence of this seeming hypocrisy, we propose a sweeping to change to the game's landscape: the removal of anything remotely referring to obscenity from the game.
If they intended to remove the viability of "Two Dollar Horde" as a guild name, then any guild whose acronym is "WTF" should probably also be changed (because of the F), and all sexual references in the game be promptly removed as well.
Thus, Warlocks get nerfed by the removal of succubi from the game, as well as the renaming of rare Hunter animal "The Rake." A rake, as we all know, is a oft-used term for men and women of easy virtue, in addition to its reference to farming implements.
Furthermore, there should no longer be any swords and sheathes in the game, nor daggers, nor spears. The undead must also cease to be anything skeletal, for we all know what "bones" can thus refer to. Of course, there's also the Burning Crusade itself, an obvious reference to the legion of post-menopausal women everywhere.
Hopefully, this matter will be resolved in time, but until then, our prayers, gold and common cents will always belong to the Two Dollar Hordes of the world.
