Blizzard bans both Asians and Western WoW players

WoWMaybe there is some truth to the Christmas song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." The line "He's making a list and checking it twice, he's gonna find out who's naughty and nice" definitely rings true considering what recently happened in giant MMO title, World of Warcraft. Accordingly, Blizzard just closed a good number of accounts that have been caught cheating.

The announcement at the game's official site reads:

In our continued efforts to combat cheating in World of Warcraft, more than 105,000 accounts were closed and over 12 million gold was removed from the game economies in Europe, Korea, and the U.S. in the month of November. The closed accounts were associated with activities that violate World of Warcraft's Terms of Use, such as using third-party programs that allow cheating and farming gold and items.

Blizzard then went on to thank legitimate players who have been giving tips nonstop to their Hacks Team. We can only imagine the disappointment that the company is feeling right now. This type of thing is not actually new as there have been a lot of banning incidents in the past.

The question now is whether Blizzard realizes the disappointment fans feel toward the game's rather problematic new features.
