A sub-60 character in Hellfire: High risks, high returns? |
Ó
A couple of months ago, World of Warcraft's Warlocks found a workaround for the Dark Portal's level requisite of 60 via their Ritual of Summoning spell. This opened up the once 60-and-above-only areas of Outland to those not up to the restriction's specs, although at the cost of them (obviously) having a higher than normal fatality rate when encountering the area's resident hostiles.Given that's the case, what sort of fun can a "Sub-par" character expect in the land of floating isles, all the more that its Fel Reavers can literally send them flying back into Azeroth?
A lot of things apparently, at least according to WoW Insider's Amanda Rivera. According to the WoW gamer, her experience in Outlands at level 55 were fun to say the least, given that the high-risk areas gave her heaps of exp gain as compared to Azeroth's normal grind spots. Here's an excerpt:
What matters is that I can level my Tailoring and Enchanting again, I can use all that Netherweave I have been gathering, and I am having the time of my life. I have rediscovered the joys of grinding. I find it a better use of my time grinding the levels until 58 in an environment where the exp gain is so high. It sure beats Silithus and those darn Dredge Crushers.
Amanda also commented that while she got of plenty of weird looks from the players, most were usually more than willing to assist her on the occasion that she drew the ire of the area's more aggressive monsters. As for her point on the seeming exploit, given that players could actually travel back to Azeroth via the Dark Portal, "To me this is the sign that what I am doing is not against the design of the game. It's more like that shortcut to UBRS, built into the game for those resourceful enough to find it."
We're sure the other WoW players here have their own stories to share regarding their journey into this (not-so)forbidden realm, although we think this sums up the general idea.
