The folks over at Eyebeam OpenLab has come up with an open source software package called OGLE (i.e. OpenGLExtractor). It allows for the capture and re-use of 3D geometry data from 3D graphics applications running on Microsoft Windows. We'll spare you more of the technical stuff and tell you what it does: OGLE makes it possible to 3D-print your favorite World of Warcraftcharacters.

This will certainly appeal to gamers who have certain fixation to their game character of choice. Incidentally, the creative people of Eyebeam OpenLab are quite obsessed with their WoW characters, so it's not surprising that they've captured the character (a gnome) with OGLE and they were able to render it into the real world using Dimension BST 3D printer.

While others would be happy with monochrome 3D prints, these guys opted for the full color version and here's what they came up with:

WoW with OGLE

We wouldn't be surprised if there's a surge of inquiries to Eyebeam Labs from die-hard WoW players after seeing this awesome 3D print.

» Dimension printers don't print full color

Dimension 3D Printers don't print in full color. They can only do one color at a time. In addition, their failry course resolution would not look very good on these types of models.

The Z Corp 3D Printer is the only full color 3D Printer.
