Sony has confirmed that MAG and SOCOM developer, Zipper Interactive, just let go of a whole bunch of staffers.

Said Sony, the layoffs were made as part of a "normal business practice and a result of cutting back on production resources after the launch of two major franchises." They did not elaborate on just how many staff were actually laid off, but industry insiders have got their tongues wagging that it could be as much as up to 33 people.

It would probably make sense, since the maintenance of both games most likely doesn't need as much number of people as when they were developing it or when they first launched it. Still, it's always a shame to hear of people losing their source of livelihoods.

SOCOM 4 was just release several weeks ago. Hopefully these guys will find another project that they could showcase their talents on. We'll be keeping you updated for more industry news.
