Trade association for... gold farmers? |
Ó
Trading of in game items in real life has been the subject of debate by gamers, governments and trade associations. Why? Because it seems that nobody could decide whether virtual items and gold being traded for real money should be legal or not. Gold farming is not something uncommon anymore, especially for China and Korea. Now as the Korean government move to restrict gold farming as illegal trade, Korean gold farmers and RTM (real money trading/transaction) companies have formed the Digital Asset Distribution Promotion Association. ItemBay and Item PlayForum are just some of the companies in the said association. Some think that this is a move to get on the government's good side. The association is, of course, legitimate.
We'll see just what this does to the MMO industry as people have turned to them for income. We have realtors for in game land and gold farmers for items. Would other countries start writing laws against RMT? And what's next - a labor union for gold farmers?
