NCsoft, the publisher and developer of Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa, is offering players a shot at immortality. They are giving a few select gamers the chance to digitize their DNA and place it into a time capsule named the Immortality Drive which will be going up into space with none other than Richard Garriott.During Operation Immortality, which will last from July 30 all the way to August 31, eight random U.S. Tabula Rasa players will be selected every week. These lucky few will be receiving a DNA kit with instructions on how to forward the testing materials to have it digitized.
The digitized DNA test results will be encrypted and saved to a storage device, which will then be transported and stored in the International Space Station on or around October of 2008 and kept there for an undisclosed amount of time.
If you don't get picked, don't worry because all the characters in the game with active retail accounts on September 2, 2008 will have their characters uploaded into the time capsule as well. This means that your online persona will be forever immortalized.
Richard Garriott spoke about Operation Immortality saying that "IÂ’ve been able to do some very exciting things in the games business, but nothing of this magnitude." He went on to explain the importance of this project, saying that "theoretically, if anything happens to the human race, it could be their DNA that is used to resurrect humanity."
I'm not really sure if his theory regarding the resurrection of humanity via digitized DNA is plausible, but I do know that having a piece of myself in outer space would be awesome. to find out more on how to take part in Operation Immortality, follow our source link below which will take you to the main webpage of the project.

think about it, the cell shape is already given when each of us are born, if an advanced human race(and lets say were no longer organic), want to re-build their organic ancestor, is few strands of dna going to do it? i'd think not they'd have no way of incubating that dna, the cellular structures our dna live in now arn't given so i'd think rather than dna, also confide into the capuse a layout of the "capsules" that carry our dna with it, but that's my thought
