SL avatarAs the population of Second Life grows, it is only understandable that the game would require updates and upkeep with growing frequency. It would be remembered that 1.13 was implemented before New Year and one of the issues that was given most attention was the teleport bug.

Anyway, developer Linden Lab announced today that update 1.13.2 will go live on January 10 and it will result to a total grid shutdown. The official statement reads:

Second Life will be unavailable from 7am-12pm PST on Jan 10 for a planned update. New client software will be required to access the Grid after the update, and full release notes of the new client will be posted on this blog the evening of Jan 9. We have a preview of 1.13.2(3) up on the Beta Test Grid and will be updating it soon with a final release candidate.

Aside from the announcement, Linden also would like to send word of apology to all residents because of the said downtime. Well, we are pretty sure this is ultimately for the good of the game. We just hope it doesn't take them so long because we still have to meet the new SL in-game liaison.
