Let's sum up this Archlord article in one word.

Dragons.

Big, flying, killer dragons.

You can get epic mounts like epic "wolvies" and "horsies" and "rhinocerousinies" and the like, if you want. What it all comes down to though is a matter of sheer coolness, and dragon mounts are cooler than mounts that look like crossbred rhinocerous-armadillo hybrids by a wide margin.
