RuneScape passes one million subscribers milestone |
Ó

Jagex Ltd today announced that as of this month, its popular RuneScape game has now exceeded one million subscribers worldwide. The browser-based game has attracted popularity across the globe with strong subscriber communities in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Scandinavia.
"It is a huge acknowledgement from our global gaming community that being presented with new adventures and challenges in a rapidly evolving world are what gamers want in a multiplayer online game," said Constant Tedder, Managing Director of Jagex Ltd. "Development efforts have been rewarded with a steady and steep rise in player numbers. And we're not resting on our laurels - there's a huge amount still to come!"
Part of the upsurge in RuneScape's popularity could probably be attributed to Jagex's recently launched German-language RuneScape beta. Jagex also has a solid reputation for its rigorous security policy. The company now has over 150 support staff able to deal with any issues that arise around the world 24/7.

No one likes runescape its stupid and not worth playing. By a Ds or PSP Like i did >:(
And thats before you include everyone that can't subscribe. Or those happy with the free game. It's an OK game, but people get too addiced to it, and it doesn't have enough content yet to keep someone interested as long as some people want. Then there's the idiots that aren't happy with it because they're not killing dragons after 5 minutes playing the game. Of course, there will be people that genuinely dont like it, for their ow reasons, but over generalisation like that just makes you look stupid. Especially when there's evidence to the contrary right above you. If you don't like it though, just dont play it. No-ones forcing you to, so just leave the people who do like it to play it, to play it without a barrage of "ZOMG runescape sucks!" (I know you didn't say everything I've mentioned in there, some of it's just because I kinda defended RueScape there, so there's probably a lot of people looking at this that hate me right now.)
Bob you make me laugh because most people who play runescape is under the age of 15 who cant play games that are rated M and the best rpg is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that is game worth playing not this gay runescape oooo 1 million people you know how many people play oblivion way more than runescape can tell you that so go stop defending runscape
At least runescape isn't filled with as many morons like you. Anyway, its about time, runescape is a great game without the amazing graphics.
I must say, I used to be quite fond of RuneScape. I really have nothing against it, it just got old. One thing I really love is that it's a flash game. Sure, it'll never be WoW nor EQ2, but hey, it still occupied me prior to getting up to bigger and better games.
It's on Java isn't it? Are we talking about the same game here? And Oblivion would have been great, if it actually sported multiplayer. Otherwise it's just a step up from Morrowind, which is another step up of DaggerFall.
lets compare the games... Elder scrolls oblivion: A wide open world where u can kill litterally neone or nething alive...steal anything...and have a great storyline... Runescape: A Multiplayer rpg that you can play for free...where you can sell anything thats not a quest item for any price you give...Kill real players out in the wilderness... I Love Oblivion and Runescape but you really cant compare them becuz ones a MMORPG and the others a RPG...so when people start putting a game down thats online that a company made or something and compare it to a console game its a completly unfair arguement... Thats like comparing Alien Hominid for pc on newgrounds to the one for 360 and ps2... so kevin if you come back on this post read this and think MMORPG's and RPG's cant be compared because one has a set storyline the other is where u can interact with others and just do whatever
I do have a psp and am quite happy with it becuz i can emulate FF 7 8 9 and nay other ps1 game...and n64 and genesis snes nes atari gba and gbc but thats just another kick in ur mouth...
There's such thing as opinion. Achknowledge that. And "most people who play runescape is under the age of 15" You sound twelve. No.

it says 1 million subscribers, not 1 million different players. I mean most macros owners have more than one crap account because while the macroer gets banned, the person using the macro doesnt. it should make since that if you have to ban like 5+ players are for macroing from the same IP, the whole IP would get banned. Oh but Jagex needs the paying members so they dont ban the perpitrators. Unlike WoW who can remove more than 60k players in one swoop.
