Reuters opens up Second Life branch |
Ó
We all know that MMORPGs can be quite addictive, and World of Warcraft's popularity can attest to that fact. However, if you want to take a breather from Faerun, you might want to check Second Life out.
Now, you can take a slice of the real world into Second Life with the real life news agency Reuters opening up a branch within the said MMO. And no, this news agency won't give you reports about what's going on in the outside world, but instead will be dedicated to covering business and entertainment news developing in Second Life right now!
Reuters have gone all out on this one, investing in a Second Life real estate and constructing a Second Life Reuters HQ which includes among other features a so-called 'common area' where residents can gather to discuss news and current events. They have also created a Reuters/Second Life website which contains news, interviews, and even graphs of the current value of Second Life's currency, Linden dollar, against the U.S. dollar along with other economic, domestic and Second Life world news.
The current hot topic that the Second Life Reuters is covering though, is real world relevant: the question of whether to tax Second Life players who make an income on Second Life and in-game transactions or not. Let us know your views on this, so sound off in the comments!
