Problems Abound in WoW; Blizzard a Victim of Its Own Success? |
Ó
This seems to be the case as many gamers have been vocal about the problems they've been faced with when they're in the Warcraft world - that's if they even get to enter the world. Authentication of players are also taking too much time according to some helpless victims/players.Blizzard has already tried addressing the gaming community (and not the problem!) about this problem WoW has been having, blaming their network provider AT&T and the fact that massively multiplayer games like the World of Warcraft are prone to technical problems.
But these answers are not what gamers want to hear from Blizzard especially when they've experienced major setbacks when they're inside Warcraft (and still outside of it). There have been reports of players waiting too long (some up to an hour) for the server to authenticate, and when they're finally inside the world, they only get to play for a few minutes.
Other problems in the game include "layer peeling" because of delays which strip out the interactive elements of the game, leaving the players in an empty world. Monsters, gatherable resources and computer-controlled characters are not refreshed when the characters try to explore further in Warcraft world. Gamers have also been saying that these delays often happen during the most inconvenient time during the game, like when the healing potion needs to work for the character to not get overwhelmed by enemies and when loot from defeated monsters takes too much time to get transferred to the character's backpack.
Blizzard, in a lengthy post in the game's official forums, stated that they were not happy with what was happening to the game's 336 realms. The development team also added that Blizzard has ongoing upgrades to hardware and software to support the copies of the world, as the team is going to add 22 more realms in North America and 30 more in Europe. Blizzard said it was also going to improve the log-in system and the authentication system.
Hopefully, these improvements Blizzard is promising will definitely fix the problems World of Warcraft players are experiencing.
