There’s a minor mystery occurring in the world of games journalism today. You see, early this morning, GamesTM posted an interview with Emmanuel Lusinchi, lead designer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. In this interview, Mr. Lusinchi hinted that the studio was considering a F2P transition for its struggling MMO.

Here’s the quote, for clarity’s sake:
“The MMO market is very dynamic and we need to be dynamic as well. Unless people are happy with what they have, they are constantly demanding updates, new modes and situations. So we are looking at free-to-play but I can't tell you in much detail. We have to be flexible and adapt to what is going on.”
Here’s where things get weird: That news post, which I will link right here, has since been pulled off the web. Poof! Of course, it wasn’t pulled fast enough to stop the story from blasting out into the blogosphere, but it was pulled all the same.
It looks like Lusinchi may have dropped the ball on BioWare’s plans, or at the very least spoken out of turn. We’ll keep you posted as things develop—a response from EA or BioWare is surely on its way.
Would you play SWTOR if it were free?

Does it have a storyline comparable to the previous games?
If not, then no.

My Trooper basically became a gun for hire.. and I remember he only once shouted at some chick saying "I'm not a gun for hire" could've fooled me. I tried to play a Sith Inquisitor but remembered how much I hated sidequests and gave up. If its free I might become a casual player.. maybe focus on pvp rather than sidequests as a means to level up.
