Gamigo has announced another addition to the slew of options that face MMO players: Grimlands, a massively multiplayer online shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world that sprung up after a series of earthquakes devastated the Earth.
Gramlands's world is a hostile one, so players will have to learn how to survive by making full use of their characters' skills and abilities. This ties in to a skill system that doles out improvements based on how much a skill is used. If there's a particular skill that players neglect or don't use enough, they run the risk of forgetting that skill.
Another of Grimlands' main features is a comprehensive and flexible crafting system. Crafting doesn;t just extend to character equipment like armor and weapons too. Even the various vehicles found in the game can be custom-modified. Players can also establish their own cities and expand them as they see fit.
Here's a list of the game's features:
- Innovative combination of third-person shooter and MMORPG in an open and continually-developing world
- Dynamic game world influenced by the actions of the players
- Flexible skill system - skills that are used often are improved while skills that are not used are forgotten
- Comprehensive crafting system with almost endless possibilities
- Quests for single players, groups and area quest that are set in a specific place
- Intelligent opponents that will run for cover, flee, hide or lead players into traps
- Cities that can be controlled and expanded by players
- Modifiable vehicles
- Clan system with ranks, levels, an event calendar and a base
- Comprehensive PvP features with duels, arenas and battlegrounds
Grimlads will be heading into a closed beta phase in the fourh quarter of 2011.

The only thing that picks my personal interest is the ability to establish and expand player-made cities.
I'll probs sign up for the closed beta and check it out.
