VanguardYou know how we are here at QJ. Aside from sharing with you the latest homebrew available and displaying the creamiest screenshots, we also like to run interviews of important people in the gaming industry. For now, we'd like to give MMO Vanguard a look and know what's up with Associate Producer Todd Masten.

A few years ago actually, Masten was just manning the audio post for game developer Sigil. "When I first signed on with Sigil three years ago, I was very vocal in wanting to get more involved in the development of the game, aside from sound," remembered Masten. He then went on and shared how he used to visit other departments like design and management. Accordingly, he learned a lot of things and was eventually able to share insights and suggestions of his own.

Despite his current position, the associate producer is most versed with the audio aspect of the game. Masten said that "the music for the game is basically done. I conducted and recorded the main themes with the Seattle Symphony in December 06, and after these were mixed I stopped composing for the game." Aside from the gripping storyline and gameplay, Vanguard boasts of an exciting soundtrack especially the epic boss music. Furthermore, there are currently over 120 unique compositions for the game with 20+ more coming up.

VanguardWhile the musicality of the game is almost done, Masten then shared that some minimal voice work for the game still remain. "This alone is a huge task as we have 19 races, each with both male and female variations. We decided to extend the voice sessions to include simple emotes and socials," explained the official further. Also, the much talked about diplomacy system is said to be purely voice driven.

Lastly, Masten shared that he'll be taking a much needed vacation after the launch. After that, it's back to work for our guy: "I will continue overseeing production and design and hopefully get to write more music. Content for expansions and live patches will keep us busy for as long as the players stick with us."
