Mabinogi Pulled Offline |

Nexon is sort of the king of F2P, with millions of players spread between its various franchises. Mabinogi is one of the most successful of its games, boasting over 15 million accounts. Unfortunately for Mabinogi fans, however, it looks like the game has been forced into some sort of hiatus by its developer due to what they are calling “malicious” behavior.
In a statement on the game’s official blog, the developers noted that Mabinogi would be taken offline until a solution is found for the behavior they’re apparently witnessing. They go on to state that servers will not come up until they can guarantee that players will be safe from said behavior – could be a few days, could be a month.
The word “malicious” is used four times in the news post (that I saw), but beyond that there’s no real details on what exactly was going on. From what I can read in the forums, the issue likely stems from item codes sent to players, which were apparently abused to the point of players earning billions of gold in single play sessions, or thousands of AP (Ability Points). I’m not super-familiar with Mabinogi, though, so I could be wrong.

Not only was there an issue with players duplicating items through code redemption, but there was another issue entirely that was far worse for players.
A few people found a way to effectively wipe another player's inventory. This involved teleporting the players to a "tent" within the game where their inventory would be wiped out and they would be unable to leave the tent.

For the record, the "wiping inventory" issue was exactly what they fixed.
Nexon asked the community on how they would like the situation dealt with, and a large majority of the community voted for the servers to be shut down until the situation was fully remedied. Nexon asked the community for information, and both community and company worked together to solve the problem. Mind you, Nexon is split into 4 different sections, and it's not even Nexon that does any programming for the game; that responsibility belongs to DeV Cat; the creators of Mabinogi, who are all the way in Korea. This problem got responded to extremely fast.
In my honest opinion, the poster of this story should have learned a few more facts before trying to make a story about this, or waited for it to develop a little bit more. The story as it is sort of milks the damage that was done. The damage that -was- done is barely non-existent after the down-time (because that's what the down time was for).
