Lineage is shutting down |

After operating for more than a decade, NCSoft has finally decided to pull the plug on its massively multiplayer online role playing game Lineage. Says the publisher, the original Lineage franchise is "no longer financially viable in the West."
New accounts can no longer be created from no until June 29th, when NCSoft shuts down the game's North American servers for good. Those who still have active accounts, however, can continue to enjoy Lineage until then as a free-to-play game. Gamers who have their accounts set to recurring billing will no longer be charged and Time Cards are now effectively useless. Those who have any unused game time can apply for refunds.
No additional content updates will be made, but there are still a few events and ruleset changes that Lineage players can look forward to in the next two months.
"Nyx, Jetzen, and Unicycle plan to go out with a bang," says NCSoft. "We will not be making any additional content updates, but we do have US Ruleset changes and lots of great events planned for the next two months. We want to give you every opportunity to make all of your remaining Lineage dreams come true. We hope that everyone will stick around to have fun with the game you love in the time we have left."
