Interplay still pushing through with Fallout MMO - Image 1Gamernode reports that Interplay, who rolled out a little game called Fallout back in 1997, is still working on a massively multiplayer online title based on the Fallout universe.

Interplay was thought to have gone under in 2004 but resurfaced a year later. Much of the company's financial troubles were alleviated by Bethesda Softworks' purchase of the Fallout franchise in April. While Bethesda is currently the sole owner of the IP, Interplay has remained as a licensee, hence their continued pursuit of the Fallout MMO.

According to Herve Caen, Interplay's CEO and Chairman, the company is now "focused on securing funding for development of [an MMOG] based on the popular Fallout franchise. Along with our strategy of leveraging our existing portfolio of intellectual gaming properties, Fallout Online will play a key role in the future of Interplay."

Before Fallout Online becomes a reality, however, Interplay still needs at least US$ 30 million to fund the game's development. The company still a little over five years left to come out with the MMO, so here's hoping that it pushes through.
