The Winter holiday season is also making its way into the wide-open seas, but you probably won't be seeing any Christmas-themed pirates (with matching Rudolph the red-nosed parrot) anytime soon. In Pirates of the Burning Sea, people celebrate Junkanoo, and it begins in the town of Nassau.

Junkanoo is a a carnival-style festival complete with costumes, singing, dancing, decorations, and a masquerade ball. Kind of like Mardi Gras on water. It's actually a real-world festival that started in the 1700s as is still celebrated today all over the Bahamas on Boxing Day (December 26th).

As part of the festivities, PotBS beta players will be completing unique Junkanoo missions to collect masks, musical instruments, and party favors (including torches and jugs of high proof rum - which can be used to blow fire). On December 26, every beta player will make their way to Nassau for a huge masquerade ball and parade.

Non-beta players get a little something special too: four new PotBS screenshots hot off the presses. Check 'em out below.
