NCI-SouthCatering to the needs of over one million paying Second Life gamers is not as easy as one could think. Since this game is pretty much like the real world, being a new resident could sometimes be scary as you have to adjust to your new surroundings and to your new neighbor s- some could be mean, some could be good, and some may not socialize with you at all. Just think of your first day in high school or college and how scary and awkward that was.

That's why new resident support organizations are often jampacked with new residents who are just itching to fit in to the virtual SL world. Examples of such groups are The Shelter and New Citizens Incorporated or commonly known as NCI.

To help the new residents mesh better with their new horizons and friends, NCI decided to establish another post in the Hamnida sim, which is adjacent to the Welcome Area there. The new extension is named NCI South and it was built thanks to the donation of one of its members, Shwak Pertwee. The new post is still in its building and development phase, but it is starting to provide adequate help during usual peak hours.
