Flying Lab responds to Pirates of the Burning Sea inquiries |
Ó
It's been a little more than a week since Flying Lab Software has opened its scurvy seadog of an MMORPG Pirates of the Burning Sea to the public and feedback for the game has been more than generous. With the latest slew of comments collected from the players, Flying Lab Software Engineer Rick Saada took the time to respond to some of the feedback posted on the MMORPG.com forums.
For those of you who've already taken a cruise around the Caribbean, you'll noticed that the game makes extensive use of instancing to simulate encounters on the high seas. While this may seem unrealistic to some who wanted to see actual battles while cruising on their ships, the developers explained that a more realistic model such as this was excruciatingly dull in the long run.
After all, taking 45 minutes to an hour just to get from one island to another becomes more of a chore than a game. This sort of model also eliminates the problems of spawn camping and ninja-ing of targeted NPCs.
This was the problem with initial MMO games where kill stealing from high level characters was an irritating norm that lower leveled players had to contend with. Other comments players freely gave out were about the adding of more variety to the content in the game.
While the ports and island landing spots in the game were meant to be places where players can socialize, the existing number of unique ports were so far limited. Saada shared that the developers are currently working on creating more mission spaces for specific avatar missions.
Other issues raised were the lack of unique missions and the currently level progression speed for the characters. Both, as well as the other concerns raised by forum members, will be worked on in the days to come as they promise to do their best to address them and give everyone a more enjoyable seafaring experience.
