Flagship Studios on dealing with spawn campers, griefers and gold spammers in Mythos |
Ó
It's a fact of life that not all MMORPG players you come across will be the edifying type. In the case of spawn campers, griefers and gold spammers, there are times when you simply must let the powers-that-be deal with them. Fortunately, Flagship Studios appears to be ready to deal with these kinds of players in Mythos. In a recent interview, Travis Baldree and Max Schaefer spoke about doing precisely that. They mentioned that Flagship Studios has been turning the spawn rate down in certain areas and has been making monsters spawn only offscreen and in random locations. Also, most of the Mythos bosses are in instanced areas that don't respawn.
Baldree and Schaefer also said that Flagship Studios is lessening the incentive to farm for gold by designing systems so that the precious metal won't the end-all and be-all in Mythos. Plus, the company has tried to design gameplay in such a way that griefing has been limited. Besides, players may make use of the ignore lists and CSR tools at their disposal.
It's a sound plan. As with all things, though let's see how things turn out with these systems when Flagship Studios Mythos goes on open beta.
