Upcoming update just won't remove the physical levels and add automated character development, as Square Enix revealed, it also includes two of the series mainstays - chocobos and airships.
chocobo on the run
Yes, folks you heard it right. A year after its release, Square Enix will be adding this two nifty additions on top of the recent planned enhancements in the upcoming patch 1.19.
With the chocobos addition, you can now "freely traverse the land with far greater celerity than is possible with their own two feet," notes Square Enix. In order to acquire these trusty big yellow flightless birds, you must be officially enlist in a Grand Company (achieve a rank higher than recruit) with 3,000 company seals in your pocket. Not enough moolahs? Don't fret, you can also rent a chocobo by paying a fee in gil 'for a predetermined duration"
Airships will also be available in patch 1.19. It will be introduced as a new mode of transport between the three city-states - Limsa Lominsa, Gridania and Ul’dah. "To ride an airship, simply make your way to the airship landing in each nation and pay for your passage in gil," Square Enix noted. "Departure and arrival cutscenes will accompany each flight; the voyage itself, however, will be over in a matter of seconds." But in a future update, players can "fully savor the experience of flying, taking in the sights and sounds while roaming the decks of their vessels." Sounds good and all, let's just hope they will also focus on the persistent gameplay issues that are yet to be addressed.
