Thanks to a recent merger with U.S.-based White Wolf, CCP has confirmed that a physical version of EVE Online will be made available to gamers within the next two months.

"It's not going to be the typical retail box," said CCP marketing director Magnus Bergsson
in a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz. "We will do a counter-top, slim-case DVD. It's going to be a 14-day trial with a little booklet and you're going to be able to buy it for US$ 3.99 or US$ 2.99, or something like that."

Bergsson added that an EVE Online retail version will be a boon for those who have problems downloading the game. "In Eastern Europe, where people often have to pay from downloads from abroad... Those people are concerned about downloads, even though the client is only 640MB."

The boxed version of the game will see a release in the U.S., UK, Russia, Japan, and other countries. EVE Online is currently available as a free download.
