Dramatic Night Scenes From Pirates of The Burning Seas

Wow.

That was my first reaction when I saw these full size. Granted, there's not a whole lot of action in these screenshots - just a pirate out for a night on the town as he explores the streets - but lights and shadows are about as realistic as any I've seen.  You can actually see individual stars in the night sky, and the illumination of the figure is consistent of that of a half moon or larger. In addition, the first screenshot actually gives us a look at the user interface.

Pirates of The Burning Sea is a unique, nautical-themed MMORPG that recreates an era in which the colonial powers of Europe vied for political and economic dominance in the rich sugar-cane growing islands of the Caribbean (crack open your history book and look up "Triangular Trade"), while freebooting pirates preyed on any ship that crossed their bows (unless hired as privateers by one nation or another). If the screenshots that have come out so far are any indication, the graphics will be nothing short of amazing.

Although publisher Flying Lab Software has not given a firm release date, they have issued the following statement:

"The end is now in sight, and for the most part, we're just turning the crank on content production. We've got plenty of bugs to fix and game-play to polish, but things are progressing at a predictable rate. And when you're talking about a release date, predictable is the key word."
