Say what you will about CCP (for instance, that they rule), providing free expansions for life is a pretty cool thing to do for your subscribers. EVE Online has been active for the better part of ten years, and every content update and expansion has been made available free of charge. The latest free expansion, titled Crucible, is available for download as of today.

Crucible is a pretty massive update for EVE Online, adding new features and reworking some of the game’s mechanics from the ground up. Some updates include better space graphics, a more readable in-game font, updated Captains Quarters, new ships, UI changes – the list goes on practically forever.
If you’re an EVE player, you should probably check out the Crucible website for a full list of what’s being changed. This is one of the biggest updates ever applied to the game and comes after nearly an entire week of downtime, so expect things to be very different after you install and log in. Very different, but still the same EVE.
The studio has taken to calling Crucible “EVE re-forged.” What do you think about the new expansion?
