Champions Online - Image 1Excited much for the not-so-near launch of Cryptic Studios' Champions Online? You'll have to hold on to that excitement much longer as we've received word that there's been a change in schedule.

Design Director and Executive Producer Bill Roper explains the push back:

It is critically important for an MMO to be as good as it possibly can be at launch. Through our constant dialogue with our vocal and supportive community of beta testers, we quickly realized that in order to implement certain features that we all considered important the development of Champions Online would require more time. So that's what we're going to give it. Cryptic has a proven track record of releasing solid games and we want to maintain that with Champions Online.

We like solid games, too. So if more time is what they need to up the ante on this game, then we're gonna have to be more than willing to give it to them and let them do their jobs right.

Champions Online
was originally set for a July 14th launch, but is now slated for a September 1 release.
