Bluehole Studio acquires Unreal Engine 3 license

Unreal Engine 3 logo - Image 1Another Korean MMORPG for PC is cooking up, as Seoul-based Bluehole Studio just announced that it inked a deal with Unreal Engine.">Epic Games to use the Unreal Engine 3 technology for its project known only as Project S1.

The video game development studio has only been around since 2007, and Project S1 is the first MMO to go online under Bluehole's banner. Nothing else is known about the mysterious flagship title aside from the fact that it will be powered by the Unreal Engine 3, but the company's mantra allows us to guess.

Yong-hyun Park, chief technical officer of Bluehole, stated that his crew is "striving to advance the MMORPG industry by leveraging high quality graphics." Epic vice president Jay Wilbur believes "Bluehole is positioned to push the envelope with Unreal Engine 3.” Wilbur added:

Given BlueholeÂ’s pedigree and its ambitious plans to reinvent MMO design and battle system mechanics, Epic is honored to provide the core development tools and infrastructure for this project.
