Mock up of fictional World of Warcraft MMORPG - Image 1Are you guys ready for a possible Diablo Online MMORPG? Actually, that was just a rather exaggerated supposition on our part ever since we heard that a number of employees from Blizzard North have come under the hire of L5 Games, an gaming studio focusing on online gaming.

The new California-based development studio is actually a subsidiary of Gravity, Co., Ltd, a Korean company that is best known for the development and publishing of various online games in Korea. Most notable of these are MMORPG titles such as Ragnarok Online.

Gravity CEO Il-Young Ryu had this to say after absorbing the new employees into their North American online gaming arm:

We intend to develop online games targeting the North American market, one of the fastest growing online gaming markets, with the outstanding developers of L5 Games who have a successful track record and thorough understanding of the culture of the North American market.

The Blizzard team hired were all involved with the development of games such as Diablo, StarCraft and Warcraft. So don't blame us for jumping the gun when we thought an MMORPG version of the said games might already be in the works. We'll just have to wait and see if anything of the sort pops up sometime in the near future.
