Hellgate - Image 1We do not know about you, but things are really beginning to become exciting and massive for Hellgate: London, especially now that it's just a few weeks away from release. We could say that its rather unlikely appearance at this year's CES gave it a much needed boost. Even Flagship Studio's Bill Roper himself commented on this:

The game was on display and playable at the Microsoft, Intel, NVidia, and Dell booths, we had a TON of people drop by to offer encouragement, support and play the game. We were also honored to be included in both the keynote speeches given by Bill Gates and Michael Dell.

Despite his enthusiasm, the officer still wasn't clear on the free online component of the game as well as its subscription aspect as he tiptoed around the subject. He reiterated once more that they are providing clients full support starting from secure server infrastructure to maintaining a 24/7 customer support as well as a live team that will always be checking for bugs and providing content updates.

He also said:

And while we are still finalizing the commercial and game aspects of our online plans, we can tell players that there will definitely be significant free online play. Just as with the Diablo series, we've created a complete single player experience whose longevity of game play benefits from all of the randomization, rarity and customization youÂ’d expect from us.

We wonder why Roper has always been big on comparing Hellgate with Diablo. Are they banking on Diablo's success and hoping people will pick this game up because of that?

Is Hellgate something bigger than Diablo or is it a mere reflection of it? We're hoping it's going to be a success, but we guess just have to see when the game comes out this March.
