LotRO's Executive Producer on Evendim, features and more |
The popularity of Codemasters' The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar has been growing consistently with a pretty large established consumer base. The Warcry network was able to interview Executive producer of LotRO Jeffrey Steefel, and quite a few little details came to light.
The addition of Evendim to the game is looming, with reports saying that it will be coming out this month. This area for players with characters level 27 or higher brings new quests such as reforging Aragorn's sword. Steefel gave a little insight on what they were thinking when they were developing it.
We really took an approach that we wanted this to look like no other place in Middle-earth that we've built so far. The update introduces the new lands of Arnor, an abandoned area that is a focal point of Middle-earth's history, but also not overly described in the books. It gave us an opportunity to be creative with the look and feel of the place.
To end, he mentioned a feature they will be adding that most LotRO players have been clamoring for: in-game Housing. Steefel gave word that we should expect them to start going over this before the end of the year. That's very exciting news to those who have been waiting for a chance to actually "live" in Middle Earth.
