Interview with Fury Senior Designer Joseph Hewitt |
Ó

After that, it has been quite a while since we have given you an update on the promising Auran creation. So to make up for lost time, recently, Fury's Senior Designer Joseph Hewitt answered some questions with regards to their experiences on making Fury, game development plans, plans about player forums among many other things.
When asked for the reason on why did they create a game so different from the rest of the pack, the good senior designer gamely mentioned that he considers the experience of making a 'traditional' game like training wheels on a bicycle for players, with that they decided that "very early on we decided we were making this game for the core audience...Skill based systems offer so much more and let players build characters aligned with their own play style." He also mentioned that at first, the game would be harder to manipulate and balance, but it would ultimately be a big convenience to the players as soon as they get the hang of it.
When asked about how they were able to build-up Fury in almost lightning speed, Mr. Hewitt mentioned that the fact that they know what they want before the build-up process started was an integral reason why they were able to finish it up fast. Another contributing factor on this is "EpicÂ’s Unreal3 engine allowed us to focus on building the core game first, not worrying about creating the game engine."
As for game development plans, the team behind Fury is planning a lot of "new war zones, trials and even new game types are just a few of them." They are also seriously planning on making the forums available as soon as possible since "player communities are very important in building a base for your game and in order for that community to grow healthy there needs to be a place where the developers can have a dialog with those players."
Although he refused to divulge about a rumored faction system, this is so since "that's one of those things we were going to put off for the first expansion but we have found a really cool way to incorporate it in now. All I can really say about it at this point is that just like all of FuryÂ’s key elements, it is centered around PvP."
