A Fury of Details |
Ó
In a stunningly opposite move, Auran Games released a lot of information about Fury after hinting before that it'll keep mum about the details of the game. The company used to be secretive and quiet regarding their entry title to the MMO market. Lead Designer Adam Carpenter was at hand to help us better understand Fury.In more ways than one, Auran Games title has similarities with Guild Wars. It would be highly unfair for Fury however, if we would leave it at that. To begin with, the art and graphics astoundingly look real. One can actually notice birds flying by every now and then. If you look closely at the ground, you are likely to find spiders scurrying across the grass.
For launch, according to Carpenter, Auran plans to have four different kinds of battle grounds. They are as follows:
Vortex – group vs. group with 4 to 16 members each; aim is to capture crystals and return them to base and lasts about 20 minutes; stealing of crystals from other teams is allowed
Elimination – pure PvP and/or team vs. team
Blood Bath – last man standing wins
Fortress – large battle, fortress take-over efforts; these maps are expected to take an hour
Building charges for characters is of most importance. All spells that can be cast belong in one of the four disciplines (Life, Death, Growth, Decay). Take note that these have opposing qualities, meaning they inversely affect each other. For example, your charge in Decay decreases whenever you gain a charge in Life. Interestingly as well is the Incarnation System. The characters you use serve as an Avatar, the essence of a soul that has lived many lives. If you want new weapon and skills, you need Equip points. To get these points, you need to unlock first memories in the battle. There are 256 Incarnations all in all.
Finally, Adam Carpenter shares that the company has not decided yet in terms of subscription to use for Fury. They are clear however, that a monthly subscription like that of WoW's is very unlikely.
