Useful Tips & Tricks for the iPhone: Part 1

iPhoneuserguide.com over the years has posted many tips and tricks for your iPhone and if you have been an avid reader of this website or you are a iPhone power user then you are sure to know many of the tips/tricks going to be mentioned in this multi-part series. But then, for some casual users (and 1^st time users) of the iPhone the points mentioned in this series will definitely come useful. Let’s get on with the first set of tips & tricks for your iPhone.

Scrolling to the top

When you are scrolling a web page on Safari you can tap on the status bar which will result in you being directed to the top of the page immediately. This trick is really useful when you are scrolling through a long web page or mail message and need to quickly get back to the top of the page. Very convenient and helps save time/effort. This definitely has be one of the most useful tricks for the iPhone. Apple never bothered to explain that you could do this and hence you will only be able to find information on it in the programming documentation on scroll views. Unfortunately, a similar trick to go to the bottom of the page is not there.

Taking Screenshots

If you simultaneously press the home button and the sleep/wake button then you will be able to take a screenshot of your current screen. As soon as you press the two buttons you will hear a camera shutter noise and the screen will flash white. You find the screenshot of your iPhone screen in the Saved Photos library in the Photos app. Definitely a useful and fun trick for your iPhone.

Saving images

If you didn’t know how to save images in Safari or Mail then let us enlighten you. By touching and holding on to an image on Safari or Mail a pop-up menu will appear which will give you the option to save the image.
