A very recently launched app from Clever & Sons may help provide some answers to this commonly asked question. This app for the iPhone is known as WiFi2Hifi. You need to install this app on your iPhone and also install the companion app for either Windows or Mac. Once you are finished with installation you can stream music from your computer to be played on your iPhone inside the range of a wireless local area network.

The best thing about this app is the ability to use the iPhone as a remote audio system. You can simply connect your iPhone to a HiFi or any other audio system and use it to control music playing through your computer. You may no longer need to buy an expensive music sharing audio system. The iPhone simply acts like a wireless receiver. As per the press release after the launch of the app on 21^st February 2011, there are three main functionality of WiFi2HiFi.

• You can play music from any audio program such as music players, applications etc on your computer through your iPhone.
• Your iPhone gets automatically detected on your computer once you install the WiFi2HiFi on both devices.
• You can directly plug in the music stream (from your hard drive or online radio) into your headphones or your docking station. You can easily control this using a simple click of your mouse button.

WiFi2HiFi is compatible with iOS 3.1 and above. Moreover, on the computer you would need at least MAC OSX 10.6 or Windows Vista/7. You can find this app on the app store for a reasonable $0.99. This may just be early days for the app, but if it does what it’s supposed to do then it could definitely become a popular app for the iPhone.
