Lost Your iPhone? Do Not Fear, ‘MobileMe' To The Rescue!

The ‘Find my iPhone’ feature allows you pinpoint the exact location of your missing phone on a map and further gives you one of the three options. Either set up a remote passcode protected lock, wipe all of your data or display a message on the screen. This can help in protecting your data so that it doesn’t fall in the wrong hands. And obviously once you are aware of its location, you can hurry and go pick it up.

But, how do you set up this feature on your iPhone? The following steps will tell you exactly how to do it. 1. Make sure that your iPhone OS is up to date i.e. iOS 4.2. 2. Once you are sure, go into the settings and then into the Mail, Contacts, Calendars option. 3. Select the Add account option and within that find the ‘Mobile me’ preference. 4. You will then be given a section to insert your Apple ID and password. If you have ordered something from the apple store or have an iTunes account, either of the two will serve as your Apple ID and password. You can also use your .mac or .me Ids if you have previously subscribed to ‘Mobile me’. But obviously if you have none of these, then you can always select the ‘Create free Apple ID’ button and follow instructions. 5. Before you can get started, there may be some cases where your ‘Mobile me’ account states that it is not verified. In these cases you would have received an email asking you to verify the account which can be done by logging in using your Apple ID and password. If you are not able to locate your verification email, you can always go into the ‘Mobile Me’ account and tap on the Resend email button. 6. Once verified, you must again go into the ‘Mobile Me’ account page and switch on the Find my iPhone feature. Wait for a second and another screen comes up where you click the allow button. 7. Finally, take the feature for a test ride, from a computer you need to log into ‘me.com’ to locate your iPhone on a map, from where you can either lock it or display a message on it or completely wipe off its data.
